I have been running around in circles and it has been non-stop. For the last month I have been planning and finalizing the last details of this year’s Women’s Empowerment Expo at Cobo Hall in Detroit. Hence, why the posts on the blog have been a little light. Radio One Detroit’s 2nd Annual Women’s Empowerment Expo took place last Saturday where thousands of women from the Metro Detroit area came for the all-day event geared towards helping women discover ways in which to empower themselves in every aspect of life.

Aside from a few minor hiccups that will be in my future celebrity ‘tell-all’ book, it really went well. But seriously, it was a good time had by all. The expo featured informative seminars with cool topics that ranged from “It May be in Style, but is it Your Style?”, hosted by Project Runway Season 13 contestant and Detroit native Char Glover to the standing room only “Your Best SEX Ever” seminar hosted by bestselling erotic author ZANE.

Iyanla and my motherThe highlight of the evening was the keynote speech given by Iyanla Vanzant, speaker, author, TV personality and host of the television show “Fix My Life”. Vanzant went on to talk about how women must learn to not let anyone negatively impact them. She had advice for women ranging in age from those in their 20s to those in their 70s. Her words resonated with everyone in the audience.
