The iPhone 4 Verizon will be coming to a store near you on February 10.  I have purposely not upgraded my Blackberry phone because of all the chatter about a possible iPhone coming to Verizon. And now it’s a reality!! The announcement was made this morning.  I tried to RSVP to see the actual announcement but was denied…whomp! Oh well.  Hopefully the more I work on this blog the better my press credentials will become.

Current Verizon customers, like myself, will be able to pre-order on Feburary 3rd for the standard $200 price for the 16GB model on a two year agreement or $300 for the 32GB version.  All others will be able to order on February 10th (see it compared with AT&T’s iPhone 4).   Contrary to the rumors, the phone runs on a Verizon 3G (EV-DO) network only. There isn’t any 4G data or GSM roaming.

The design of the phone has not changed. Unfortunately Verizon’s CDMA network doesn’t support simultaneous voice and data as with the GSM version. So that means you can’t use an app and talk on the phone at the same time.  It does, however, have a new antenna design.  If you remember before with the previous iPhone 4 version, the positioning of the antenna caused dropped calls.  The change in the placement of the antenna may require a new case if you are upgrading from an AT&T iPhone 4. The best part about this phone is that you can turn it into a mobile WiFi hotspot!! And you can add up to 5 users.

I’m so excited about this phone!! Although I love my Blackberry, this phone will be much more practical for me.  I’m wondering how the data plans are going to work. I’m hoping not too expensive.

Update: Verizon has released a FAQ form for the phone that may answer some of your questions.

For those of you that already have an iPhone, will you be changing over your provider to Verizon?
