Yesterday was my birthday and tomorrow I’m headed out to Puerto Rico for some relaxation in the sun. So far I’m 3 for 3 of fulfilling my new year resolution of traveling someplace very month. Yay! Of course the day I’m leaving it’s going to be 50 degrees. That’s a sauna compared to how the weather has been.

I mentioned before that I am trying to downsize my packing. My motto is ‘travel light, travel far’. I clearly failed and over-packed on my trip to Hawaii in January. But my last trip to Silver Spring, MD proved much more successful.

Granted it was only a weekend trip, I managed to fit 3 outfits, a pair of shoes and a leather jacket in my carry-on bag. I travel with the Travelon Wheeled Underseat Carry-On with Back-Up Bag. Can I tell you that I just LOVE my Travelon bag. It is compact and fits right under the airplane seat. It also comes with a matching back-up tote. I’ve traveled on various size planes and have yet to have an issue of it fitting underneath the seat. Also, the Travelon people provide excellent customer service. I have had to replace both the suitcase and bag because of rough baggage handlers the one time I had to check it. All I had to do was email customer service and they sent out a replacement. No questions asked. I’m here for excellent customer service.
How to travel with packing cubes.
Shacke Pak Packing Cubes
Now back to my ‘traveling light’! I managed to fit all of my clothes in my Travelon carry-on by using a suitcase organizer. I’ve been wanting to use one for a while. Folks in a travel group I belong to rave about them. So I was ecstatic when the people from Shacke Pak sent me out the Shacke Pak Packing Cube System to try.
SHACKE™ PAK Packing Cube System was designed to allow you to easily pack your clothing in a convenient manner so you can spend time on whats really important, traveling. Whether you’re a casual traveler, a weekend warrior, or an on-the-go business professional, SHACKE™ PAK was made for everyone.”

This system made packing for my last trip so much easier. I don’t know about you, but I get anxiety when it’s time for me to pack a suitcase. I absolutely love to travel, but hate packing. I’m the person that takes early flights and end up staying up all night prior to my flight washing clothes, packing and cleaning. I like to come home to a clean place after traveling.

The Shacke Pak cube system comes in a set of four. It allows you to pack more clothes in small suitcases. Lord knows those checked luggage fees are outrageous. So I’m trying to avoid them whenever possible.

It’s hard to fit everything you want to bring on a trip in a small carry-on, but you can with the Shacke Pak. The square organizers kept me from over-packing. It also made it easier to streamline the clothes I was taking on the trip. Since I only had so much room, I was able to carefully plan out my travel wardrobe. Once I had that figured out, it only took a few minutes to pack.

I fit all of my clothes in the Shacke Pak by using a ranger roll technique. It took a few YouTube videos to figure out how to do the roll. Let’s just say I’m still a novice. Hopefully I will get better as I travel throughout the year.

Not only does it keep clothes organized, it keeps them wrinkle free. A laundry bag is included with packing cubes too. This way you can separate your dirty clothes from your clean clothes.

I’m excited to hit the beach and get some much needed Vitamin D. Now I’m off to pack!
