I have always had trouble using the bathroom. That is #2. My mother even says that I was a constipated baby. I’ve had tests done over the years and nothing has been found. Sure, it could be my diet…I love cheese…or it just could be how my body is made up. I don’t really know for sure.

Last week I was having severe cramps in my abdomen which is usually how I know that I need to use the bathroom. My body doesn’t go like it should but it tells me when I need to go. I’ve experienced this as long as I can remember. I usually have cramps near my colon. I end up taking an herbal laxative, drinking lots of water and then I am finally able to release.

I have been looking into colonics for years but have always been reluctant. I wasn’t sure if it was going to be painful or uncomfortable. I’m honestly quite shy. But enough was enough. I was tired of the cramping and decided to check one out to see if it will offer any sort of relief.

I had a friend who recommended Pure Colonics. She said it was great and had nothing but good things to say about her experience. And so did Yelp. Getting through to them to make an appointment was tough. I called four times and left two messages. Finally someone called me back two days later and I was able to make an appointment for that day.

Colon hydrotherapy involves the safe, gentle infusion of water in the colon via the rectum. No chemicals or drugs are involved and the entire therapy is both relaxing and effective. During therapy, you lie on a custom treatment table. A small disposable speculum is gently inserted into the rectum…through which warm filtered water passes into the colon.

After it was all done, I felt really lethargic. Sort of buzzed. My stomach which normally feels hard felt soft. Not flat. But softer. Some folks think colonics is used for weight loss. It’s not. Don’t be fooled. Sure, you may lose a few pounds of waste but that’s it. It’s nothing permanent.

I really enjoyed my experience at Pure Colonics. I liked that they didn’t try to sell you more sessions or herbal remedies. I was told to get Magnesium powder from a vitamin store to help with my digestion and that’s it.

Have you ever had a colonic? If so, did it help?
